Look right, look left, look right again.. Who has the best knowledge of this rule of thumb- girls or boys and who adheres to it?
Groups of five-year-old girls and boys assessed when crossing the road and walking and were interviewed on pedestrian dangers and their overall road safety knowledge. As predicted- the girls came out best- as they were more aware of the rules of the roads than their male peers. The boys were however, better at looking at the surrounding environment before crossing the road.
Interestingly, what the girls said they did was closer to what they actually did in comparison to the group of boys.
